WILL drives Destiny - Upanishad
A very profund quote on WILL driving destiny, from Brihadaranyakopanishad (4.4.5):
काममय एवायं पुरुष इति।
स यथाकामो भवति तत्क्रतुर्भवति।
यत्क्रतुर्भवति तत्कर्म कुरुते।
यत्कर्म कुरुते तदभिसंपद्यते॥
kāmamaya evāyam purusha iti
sa yathākāmo bhavati tatkratur bhavati
yatkratur bhavati tat karma kurute
yat karma kurute tad abhisampadyate
You are what your deep, driving desire is
As your desire is, so is your will
As your will is, so is your deed
As your deed is, so is your destiny
काममय एवायं पुरुष इति।
स यथाकामो भवति तत्क्रतुर्भवति।
यत्क्रतुर्भवति तत्कर्म कुरुते।
यत्कर्म कुरुते तदभिसंपद्यते॥

ISB Interview now done
My ISB interview got done yesterday (23 Oct. 2010). It was a pleasant one.
Details are as below.
My schedule was at 16:00. Was called along with 16:00, 16:40 candidates at about 15:55 and given to write 50-100 words on ‘ORANGE’. (It was the same topic for the whole lot).
I was called in at 16:30ish into a 3 member panel.
Was asked as to how I put people into different buckets. (Since I have many people reporting into me).
What is the organisational strategy you have worked on?
What would you look for in your successor?
Why MBA now?
If you happen to meet Mukesh Ambani seated next to you in a flight what would you sp[eak to him about yourself?
You will be studying in a class with a large majority in the 5 year experience category. What do you think about this?
Any questions?
Any –ves with ISB?
Thanks.
Lasted about 20 minutes.

IIMA PGPX Interview done
The IIMA PGPX interview is now done.
The interview seemed to be more of gauging the worthiness of the applicant vis-a-vis the information provided in the application form and essays. Also, situational response and ability to articulate views seemed to be another aspect being evaluated. The interview was a very cordial one.
The interview was done by a panel of two - both faculty of IIMA.
Questions were:
Was asked for certificates which I presented. They browsed through. All along the interview, the application was being flipped through.
1. After exchange of pleasantries, was given a topic to speak on. The topic was:
In spite of India being a 1billion strong country, why is it a weak force in sports?
2. You have written business plans. Can you describe your idea of a business plan if I want to start a sports training center.
3. You have done LDP last year in your organization. How did it go?
4. You are a senior professional, you are doing well, earning good money, so why are you wanting to do this when you can instead get the knowledge from books and simulation videos.
5. You have mentioned about Vedic education. What is this all about?
6. What do you gain out of this?
7. Anyway Vedas are a big bukum. Cited the Karmanyeva dhikarashthe….. sloka and said this means you don’t need to really care about the results, what is this teaching.
8. Ok. What Vedic philosophies have you practically used. Give at least 3 or 4 examples. We don’t want to listen to any discourse.
Thanks and bye.

Will
I had seen a poster in one of the project teams that says:
If there is a way, we will find it. If not, we will make one.
A simple and powerful coming together of words that emphasize the need of WILL to find a way or make one or to Succeed.
This is my first blog and I hope to be able to add more interesting stuff soon.
